Lord Krishna

Translated By Dr. Saroja Ramanujam

.

krshNam mama priyathamam, sadhaaham chinthayaami,

sathatham yatho aham

paSyaami sarvathra thameva, so maam

Sraavayathu, thadh gaana sudhaa rasena    ||1||

I think about Krishna who is most dear to me because of which I see him everywhere. May he make me hear His nectarine music.

.

maDhura bhakthi yuthaaH gopikaa:

 krshNam vallabham manya maanaaH

 yaThaa praapthaa SreshTha thamaam gathim

thaThaa anugrhNathu maamapi, maaDhavaH     ||2||

May Lord Madhava grace me with that state in which the Gopis considering Krishna as their beloved reached the highest state through madhurabhakthi.

 .

veNu-ranDhra pooritha maarutha:  keSava mukhaath

utThitha: vahathi

maDhusii kara karna rasaayanam

yath bahvathi, bhava thaapana bheshajam   ||3||

The air that has risen from the mouth of Kesava which fills the holes of the flute bearing drops of nectarine elixir to the ears becomes the remedy for the heat of samsara.

 .

kaalindhi thata, saikatha  vila satheem

vallavijana hamsinya:,  avagaahya samsara saagaraath

utthirNaa babhoovu:        ||4||

Plunging into the waves of beauty that shines on the sandbanks of Yamuna the swans of Gopis emerged out from the ocean of samsara.

.

MaDhura gaana pradham, maThuraa naayakam,

Thridhasha Shakthi pradham, devaki sutham

Bhakthi jnaana pradham, bhaagavatha peeyoosham

vaag vaidhagdhya pradham, vaasudhevam baje ||5||

I bow down to Vasudeva the son of Devaki , who gives sweet music, who is the Lord of Mathura , who bestows power to the devas, who gives jnana and bhakthi , who is the nectar of the devotees and who gives the skill of speech.

When Damodara of supreme  abode , who was the saviour of the twin trees and who gave out messages through His flute placed on His lips like bimba fruit, flows down like the stream of water (coming down to protect the devotees from His supreme abode) then all are elevated and go to His abode.

Bound in the mortar, He releases the bound from their bondage, under the pretext of stealing butter he destroys  all sins. While he is the beloved of the Gopis, he removes all desires. Krishna alone is the destroyer of the darkness of ignorance.

May Mukundha who marked the head of kaliya with His feet place His foot on my head, who is attacked by the serpents of the five indhriyas ans has swooned due to the power of the poison of past karma.

By Hari who swallowed the forest fire like butter, what is impossible? He alone will eat the fire of my sin which is fanned by the wind of desire as He consumes   everything.

He who protected the gopas from the terrible downpour by holding up the Govardhana mountain will quench the heat of samsara creating a shower of mercy by his hand showing abhayamudhra.

The sweet sound emitted from the flute or the pleasant conversation with his friends or the sweet laughter which stole the heart of the Gopis , all were nothing but the essence of Bhagavat gita.

Just as He lifted the earth which was immersed in the ocean and placed it on the water, may He lift us also from the sea of samsara and place us on the water of His bhakthi.

Whether He takes the form of a boar or appears in the body of a fish, or puts on the disguise of  man-lion, or He is in the form of a tortoise, whichever costume He dons , the enchanter that He is, His devotees recognize Him by His lotus eyes.

Of Him who has thousand names there are numerous names due to different reasons. But of them one name is only beautiful and that is  the name Rama.

Lord Hari  takes various forms in the world of sentient and insentient beings of which He is the inner Self. But even then His form is one only, like the face reflected in a thousand mirrors.

Do they who worship Lord Hari with various flowers know not the flower which is most loved by Him? Achyutha does not delight with any other flower as He does with the offering of the lotus of the heart.

Enough of showing karpoora  neerajanam , dhoopa dheepam etc.  If the bad impulses of the heart are burnt(with bhakthi) that becomes neeraajana etc.

Be pleased Oh Lord Mukundha the destroyer of Mura, and who give what is wished for, provides extreme happiness, gives refuge to devotees, the rain-bearing cloud of mercy, who gives mukthi to those who suffer in the samsara and who speaks pleasantly to His friends( those with good heart)

Oh Nrsimha, who has merciful glance and laughing face, who is the sun that destroys the darkness of ignorance and who give more than one asks for and like kalpatharu all do not understand your merciful heart.

Oh the Lord of Seshachala, even thou I have grasped your feet my mind trembles due to the multitudes of my sins, not because of lack of faith in You but because of lack of courage and because I do not deserve your grace.
